Originally captured on 16mm black & white film, this home movie is from the collection of Dr W.R. Lawrence (MBE 1952) who was a medical practitioner in Te Aroha.

Waihi beach is busy with people. Men and women ride wooden body boards in the surf. Numerous people who have climbed the hillside enjoy the elevated view of the landscape. A rowboat tows out a fishing net, many people lend a hand to bring the net back in to shore.
