A small gathering outside the stone church, Saint David’s Pioneer Memorial Church in the township of Cave, South Canterbury. Marking the centennial of the earliest pioneers who first settled in the high country. The filmmaker’s father T.D. Burnett had the church built in 1930 to honour the shepherds who made the Mackenzie country a name-word in the South Island of New Zealand. It is also recorded that “Mr T.D. Burnett, MP, built the church "in loving remembrance of his parents Andrew and Catherine who took up the Mount Cook Sheep Run, May 1864, and in the Wilderness founded a Home."
