Part 1 of 2

Talk:- "The 35th Battalion in the Nissan Operation" by Lieutenant Colonel J. F. Moffatt, Commanding Officer.

"Every phase of the operation had been discussed weeks before and a commando raid led by Lieutenant Graham had brought back valuable information about the island. 35 and 27 Battalion were responsible for securing Tangalan Plantation, with the 35th Battalion assigned to the southern part. Two beach heads were to be established, one at the southern end of the plantation and the other at Mapiri, further south. This was done without opposition. The Battalion took up a defensive line for the night south of Mapiri. No attempt at infiltration was made by the enemy. Next day the Battalion moved towards East Point. searching the whole width of the island".
