(Track opens with a dog barking) Commander Jonas asks the ship's company to give the 28 Māori Battalion three cheers for their magnificent present. This is followed by Major Rangi Royal speaking on behalf of the Māori people not present. He opens with the Māori custom of addressing a few words in Māori to the ship, saying it was an occasion of historical interest when "The Māori khaki clad meets the Māori iron clad". He carried on with "We hope that God almighty will guide and protect you and all of us that we may attain victory and peace for all". This recording ends with a haka by the Māori party, and a dog barking in the background.
