Lieutenant Arthur Owen Woodhouse, of the Royal New Zealand Volunteer Reserve (RNZVR), talks about his experiences while patrolling in the Adriatic Sea.
He gives his impressions of the country of Yugoslavia, which is full of bucolic, rustic beauty.
Many people are part of the Yugoslav Partisan Army, the popular resistance to fascism under the leadership of Marshal Tito. He comments that the patriotism of the People's Army has united the population. Both men and women serve side by side.
Woodhouse talks about Marshal Tito's background and comments on his leadership capability.
He talks about the welcoming Yugoslav reception of the New Zealanders and comments on the similarity of the scenery to that of New Zealand. He then describes their nocturnal patrols along the coast and vividly recounts what happened if they found the enemy.
