Side 1.
The Chief Scout of the British Commonwealth and Empire is interviewed by 3ZB's Womens Hour personality, Molly McNab. He discusses his home in Rowallan, Kilmarnock, Scotland and he comments that one of the tenant farmers had a family connection with the farm since AD 1178. He talks about the benefits of scouting and that scouting is the largest youth movement in the world. He is impressed with the scouting movement in New Zealand. Lord Rowallan concludes with a comparison of farm lands between New Zealand and Scotland. In parts of Scotland, he says, there is one sheep to fifteen acres whereas in New Zealand there is one sheep to two acres. Lord Rowallan finishes the interview by impressing the importance that parents allow their boys to take risks and do things of themselves so they might prepare themselves when they have to stasnd on their own two feet.
