The famous sailing vessel "Pamir" is remembered by the men who sailed in her. A Finnish ship, she was seized during World War II as Finland was regarded as enemy territory. Nearly 250 New Zealanders then sailed her across the Pacific and around the world as a merchant vessel, before she was returned to her owner, Gustaf Erikson, after the war.
