David Fanshawe (composer) is interviewed by Kerry Stevens about his time in Fiji and the Pacific Islands recording unique recordings of music and chants from the many atolls - in all 500 hours worth. He has donated copies of all the recordings, journals to the South Pacific University Library, the various atolls and the individuals themselves at considerable cost to himself. His hope for the future are preservation and further study of the music, a Pacific Music Archive and a major composition of his own - Pacific Odyssey. Includes musical examples and sound effects eg reefs. Recorded 29/06/82. Was Composer-In-Residence at the University of the South Pacific.
