Side 1.
Dame Flora Mcleod thanks Mr. Simpson for allowing her the opportunity of addressing this unseen audience. She explains that she arrived in New Zealand on the 30th November 1954 for the purpose of meeting the great scattered family of the McLeods. She wanted to meet all those with the name McLeod as well as those "Of the Blood of McLeod" (since women bare equal right to the name). She thanks her clan family for the warm welcome. The Dame talks about the ancient castle on the Isle of Sky, Dunvegan Castle built by the first chief Leod, in the 1200s and in which his descendants have lived in ever since. She says every member of the clan can claim a connection to the castle, kinsmen throughout the world, New Zealand-Scots, Australian-Scots and American-Scots. She explains that the McLeod crest is a bull's head and their motto, "Holdfast" which is their contribution to the peace of the world. She describes the guardian treasure of the McLeod clan, the 'fairy flag' that hangs on the walls of the castle which means more to them than anything and encourages all kinsmen to visit the castle and feel the protection of this treasure.
