At 7:30 a cross to the Rugby NPC Final match between Wellington and Canterbury held at Jade Stadium, Christchurch. Commentary from Richard Lowe, John Dunne and side line eye, Brian Ashby. The National Anthem is sung prior to kick off, by half time Wellington lead 20-12. A double to wing Jonah Lomu plus tries to Jason O’Halloran and Inoke Afeaki and hooker, Norm Hewitt continues to play despite a broken arm. Wellington wins 34-29. ‘Nostalgia’ on a Saturday night continues after the game with Jim Sutton and excerpts from 1940s serials including a clip from ‘Chuckles with Jerry’ which started in 1938 (staring Dudley Rothell) and ‘Big Sister, The story of an understanding woman’. Listeners call in to share memories of by gone shows and broadcasting personalities. Bruce Russell reads the news at ten, music from Julie Rogers and trumpeter Graeme Bloomfield.
