An unidentified broadcaster makes several news announcements from London:
- Winston Churchill credits President Roosevelt with authorship of the US operations at western end of Mediterranean and comments on British fighting in Egypt.
- German-controlled Paris Radio announces Hitler call to German troops to march into unoccupied France and to occupy Corsica.
- Progress of the Eighth Army in Egypt, engaging with enemy rear guards. Cairo correspondent Godfrey Talbot has heard little about the Eighth Army’s movements, but knows they are progressing into the Western Desert to battle Germans and are kept well supplied.
- King George VI has approved several awards and promotions for distinguished services in the field.
- Russians troops are holding ground at Stalingrad and continuing to have skirmishes with Allied forces.
- Australian troops in New Guinea are fighting through dense jungles with air support.
- German planes are destroyed off the British coast.
- There will be no 2 minute silence observed on Armistice Day, but Big Ben will chime to make the hour.
