A three-hour sample of Radio Pacific 6am - 9am, Wednesday 8 March 2006. News read by Henry Grant, sports news with Toni Marsh, and weather package on the hour and half-hour from 6am. Commercial brackets throughout. At approx. 8'00" John Banks begins his breakfast show.
Topics include HIV/Aids incidence in New Zealand hits a record high - talkback; at 36'40" wife of actor Christopher Reeve, Dana, dies of lung cancer never having smoked in her life - tribute song; at 51'20" Banks criticises the census although regular social commentator Paul Goldsmith says why it is useful, then he talks about friendly staff renewing drivers' licences at the AA.
After 7am, John Banks reverts to his criticism of having to fill out the census form. At approx. 1:20'00" the Conservation Minister's decision to turn down the Whangamata Marina is also criticised. After the 7.30am news package, Banks interviews the Minister, Chris Carter, about the decision, then at approx 1:51'20" the topic is Iran and Dr Robert Patman gives comment and analysis.
After 8am, back to the marina decision and Mick Kelly from the marina group is interviewed, then at 2:24'20" George Simon talks about inaugural Auckland Cup week parade and prospects for the day's meeting. The John Banks show ends at 8.30am.
Alice Worsley and Martin Crump take over for the final half-hour of this recording, talking about Opo the dolphin anniversary, then International Women's Day, personal stories etc.
