This recording contains a lament performed by members of Tūhourangi iwi. It was written shortly after the Tarawera eruption of 1886.
"Tērā te auahi ka patua i Tarawera, kai raro iti aho.."

Preceding this, an unidentified member of the tribe introduces the waiata, (he is the grandson of the original composer) and talks about the eruption.
