Te Ahi Kaa: Exploring issues and events from a Māori perspective. This programme is a regular recording and is broadcast on Sundays 6pm - 7pm on Radio New Zealand National, presented by Maraea Rakuraku and Justine Murray. The recording begins with the 6pm news bulletin. In this week's edition:

King Homeboy of Olmecha Supreme aka Paul Teariki Toki-Love is the New Zealand Beat Box Champion. (a hip-hop technique). He talks to Maraea Rakuraku;
Otago University academic, Brendan Hokowhitu questions the authenticity of the character Koro Paka as a male Māori leader in the 2003 movie Whale Rider;
Maraea visits the the annual Kawhia Traditional Māori Kai Festival and samples some of the more unusual offerings at the kai stall of Te Kore Ratu;
Justine Murray visits Te Ra o Raukura, the annual peace festival at Te Whiti park in Lower Hutt. The festival is an opportune time for the National Heart foundation to promote their One Heart; Many Lives campaign;
Iwi of Mataatua region (Bay of Plenty) are hosting the bi-annual National Kapa Haka Competition - Te Matatini from 19 to 22 February in Tauranga. Communications advisor is Te Uta Rolleston.
