Brigadier Sir Bernard Edward Fergusson, CCMG, GCVO, DSO, OBE (later the Rt. Hon. Lord Ballantrae KT) was Governor General of New Zealand from 9 November 1962 to 20 October 1967.

On his final day of office, he and Lady Laura Fergusson were accorded a tribute in the form of a farewell broadcast, weaving together cultural elements with which he was familiar, as a fluent speaker of Te Reo Māori.

01: "Aue Hei Aue" (beginning of programme) 1'00" - song of welcome recorded at Poho-o-rawiri Meeting House in Gisborne in 1963 to welcome the Governor-General.

02: Excerpt from farewell speech by Sir Bernard Fergusson -1'00"
He invites all the six choirs present to come and sing the 23rd Psalm together on stage, which they do.

03: "Ko Ihu Toku Hepara" (Himene) 2'10" (combined groups)

04: Sir Bernard Fergusson's son, Jordy, received rank of rangatira with two tribes. One of them was Tuwharetoa, who are heard at the ceremony recorded at Waihi.

05: "Poi Atu Taku Poi", Tuwharetoa 1'42"

06: Sir Bernard was patron of the Wellington Anglican Māori Club. Here the club sings a farewell song, "Te Tangi" (Choral) 4'20"

07: The Governor General and George Tuau sing "Pokarekare Ana" together at the Wellington farewell 3'00"
