Kuru Waaka of Rotorua interviewed by Alf Sanft of Radio Tonga, in Tonga. Kuru is the Director of the New Zealand Institute of Māori Arts and Crafts (28'00").

00.00 - 28.00: The NZ Institute of Māori Arts and Crafts was formed in 1963 for the purpose of revival, propagation and preservation of arts, crafts and culture. The government saw that these were rapidly disappearing before the impact of western civilisation. The Institute has been operating since 1965 and has been successful in bringing together the experts in different fields of the culture.
