Various topics are discussed at an open forum hui held at Tokomaru Bay.

Kura Beale welcomes everyone to the hui, and acknowledges Poutini Awatere, who then replies to her welcome and continues on a brief history of two marae, Te Poho o Te Ao Tawirirangi, and Te Ari Uru, and the part these two marae played in hosting members of the 28 Māori Battalion before they left to go overseas.

Hepara Collier speaks about Barnett Burns, a European who came from England, lived in Tokomaru Bay and married Wikitoria Te Amotawa, whose descendants today are the Babbingtons, Whites, Porters, Ahuriri, Colliers and Matehe.

It is also interesting to note that on his return to England he had a full facial tattoo, which was done at his request.

Tokomaru Bay youth club presented a bracket of items:

- "Tena tena" (Morgan)

- "Tipu e Rea"

- "Aotearangi"

- "Pohiritia ra nga iwi haere mai"
