The powhiri continues at the hui at Te Unga Waka marae in Epsom. The first response from the manuhiri is from Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan who pays her mihi to " . . taku kuia, Whina . . " (Cooper). Whetu continues in English and mentions the reason for the hui - the concerns of the elders about racial tensions and the proposed rugby tour to South Africa.

The next speaker calls for a ban on the tour and speaks about the vacillations of the Prime Minister, Keith Holyoake.

(Speaker is Pat Hohepa, a clear recording. He then calls on Merimeri Penfold to read the telegrams of apologies.)
