The 28th Māori Battalion Association held a reunion in Whangarei on 12.04.1968. Addresses by the Association's President Col. James Clendon Hēnare, a former Battalion Commander.

Karakia by a former Battalion Padre, Reverend Māori Marsden after which the reunion is formally opened by the Mayor of Whangarei.

The first commanding officer of the Battalion, Brigadier George Dittmer then speaks followed by the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Col Brian Poananga.
