A waiata poi composed by Ruka (Alan) Broughton and introduced and explained by Wiremu Kerekere.

00.00 - 01.04: This original chant for the poi dance was composed in the 1960s by the Reverend Alan Broughton of Taranaki. And in his words he expresses his thoughts and comments on the migration of young Māori from his marae environment of the country tribal areas to the urban situation of the big cities of today. The changes that are taking place in the Māori way of life in this modern day and age, and his hopes for the future of the Māori people. The fact that the song has been created in the traditional chanted form of Māori music adds considerably to the emotional feeling expressed in the words.

01.04 - 05.20: Poi chant.

05.23 - 09.39: The song is repeated while Wiremu Kerekere translates the words into English.
