A pacific island FONO is being held in Wellington for pacific islanders to discuss key issues such as immigration and their rights aand obligations here under the Treaty of Waitangi. Race Relations Conciliator Chris Laidlaw, who is one of the Fono sponsors, says it's timely that Māori perspectives on the Treaty should be explained to pacific islanders.

Rita Fatialofa is Western Samoas netball player-coach. Western Samoa for the first time has entered into the World netball championships.They are seeded 19th out of 20 teams taking part. Under Ritas guidance, they stunned many by finishing at 8th in the world.
Rita Fatialofa says Western Samoa needs to start developing netball at primary school level, and if that can't be done... then at secondary school level.
