A tribute to Rev. Māori Marsden, kaumatua and rangatira.

Recording of Rev. Māori Marsden speaking before the Waitangi Tribunal on the Orakei Marae, August 1985 in support of Ngāti Whatua's claim for the return of their land at Bastion Point.

He speaks about the alienation of his people from the land, the Turangawaewae concept, equality with kin and other citizens living in Auckland., the marae as the hearth for education, mauri in the land and the world of the senses: spiritual, sense, and symbols.

Māori Marsden died at his home in Te Koopuru on 26th June 1993; he was a scholar, a theologian, a war veteran, 12 years a chaplin for the Navy and a man who crusaded for social justice on behalf of his people.
