Winterborne, Rawiri

Rawiri Winterborne speaks to broadcaster Wiremu Parker about the carvings on the meeting house Tukorehe, that was built in 1894 by Patuake Tauehe. He explains all the carvings on the house their meanings, and their relationship to the ancestor Tukorohe.

They go inside the house where he explains the backbone and the kowhaiwhai within the house. Tukorohe married Ngaparetaihinu. They had a son named Tuwhakaaroa, and a daughter named Hinetore. She had two sons. Tukorohe was a direct descendant of Hoturoa.
