IMMIGRATION: Western Samoans have been given more time to lodge their
applications for residency in New Zealand. Immigation Minister Roger Maxwell
said those wanting to apply now have until the 30th September to lodge their
application. The annual Immiration quota for Western Samoa is One thousand
on hundred and in the past the appliations have fallen short of this number. Mr.
Maxwell said he had decided to extend the invation by three months after talking
to Western Samoa's Prime Minister.

FIJI FISHING: A FIJI fishing company is warning South Pacific Nations of the
potential economic danger posed by a Chinese rival....Ting Hong Oceanic
Enterprises is being accused of moving into the Pacific with hundred os fishing
boats and portable processing factories, on barges which produce huge quantities
of "shishimi" (not sure of the correct spelling) the Managing director of FIJI fish
Ltd, Graeme Southwick spoke to RNZ's internationals Bruce Hill about his concers
of Ting Hong in the Pacific.

INTERLECTUAL PROPERT RIGHTS: The work of some Pacific Island people
are being exploited because Pacific countrys don't have legislation protecting
Indienous Interlectual Property Rights says Aroha Mead / Director of the Matatua
Declaration Secreteriat, looking into cultural and Interlectual Property Rights of
Indigenous People.
Her comments follows allegations by a Western Samoan company that
their traditional Polynesian designs on fabric is being exploited by a New Zealand
firm.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL: Amnesty International says Human rights abuse on
the Papua New Guinea sasheinest Island of Bourgenville has declined but it has
condemed both the Bougenville Revolutionary Army and PNG defence force for
continuing to carry out arbituary killings. BRA spokesperson Martin Meriori tolds
NZ's International Bruce Hill that Human Rights abuse is bound to happen in a
Civil Conflict.
