- Māori Language Week -

In 1977 Māori Language week began Sunday 18th September, and the
aim was to tell Māori and pakeha that te reo Māori is very much alive and
has a very valid contribution to make to New Zealand society.

Whai talks with Tamati Kruger/Ngai Tuhoe student at Victoria University,
Whaimutu Dewes/Ngāti Porou and Rawiri Rangitauira who are young Māori
lawyers working in Wellington. All are involved with the Te Reo Māori Society
instigators of Māori Language week.

Moana Whatarau has just returned home from a year as an AFS (American
Field Student)scholar in Massouri. Jean Abley interviews Moana about his
time in Massouri.
