Experts in the Clyde Dam area have told reporter Peter Brittenden that Electricorp has just started to realise the magnitude of the problems it faces with the soil instability behind the Clyde Dam, which will lead to a delay in filling of Lake Dunstan. Electricorp has confirmed that
initial work to stabilize the hillsides around the Clyde Dam lake will cost about 20 million dollars. Production development manager John Malcolmson says if further landslides are identified this figure could rise, but while the problems with slips are serious, he says there is no
risk to the people living near the dam site.
