South Pacific Festival Papua New Guinea

The South Pacific Festival of Arts 1980 was held in Papua New Guinea. Mr. Wiremu Kerekere reports from Papua New Guinea (2 Tapes).

Wiremu says that the Festival drew full houses at every session, morning afternoon and evening, covering the twenty venues of performance through out the city. The many varied sounds of the music of the South Pacific filled the air and at most times with the fascinating throb of beating drums.

Drum dance by the Cook Islanders.

The twenty-four visiting groups from other parts of the Pacific plus the numerous Papua New Guineans performers were catered and accommodated for, very well.
