Police task force in Auckland:

Since Gideon Tait the new Chief of Police was commissioned to Auckland he has
been at loggerheads with the Māori and Pacific Island Peoples. He and his roopu
were given a traditional Māori welcome at Mangere Marae, the first opportunity
for Māori to meet the Police on their home ground and to be able to kōrero with
them kanohi ki te kanohi about issues that are of great concern to them.
This hui was initiated by the District Māori Council in collaboration with Nga Tama
Toa and other concerned groups................the hui at times was quite heated.
