Ngāti Poneke a name that conjures up many recollections with people up and down
the country and in other parts of the world have become synonomous with the
integation of all tribes and other peoples since its inception in the late 1920s.

In about two weeks time a dream will come true for the Ngāti Poneke Māori Assn
with the opening of a million dollar complex in Thorndon/Wellington.

Māori have a saying....."when you walk into a Meeting House and you feel the
warmth of it because you known the meeting House has been named after a
ancestor, and you are amidst people who have passed on all the things they have
said are echoing through the meeting house and you feel the warmth".....

- Bill Kerekere composed many songs for Ngāti Poneke when he moved to
Wellington, he also pushed Vickie and Tom Ward into composing for Ngāti Poneke.

- kaikōrero : Witarina Harris. talks about and sings the song....Ko Ngāti Poneke
hoki matou....(Ngāti Poneke's signature songs". the roopu joins in with the song.
