MāORI PURPOSES FUND BOARD REDCORDINGS...(refer also to University of Auckland catalouge for this series) recorded by Ngāti Porou.
The following tapes MPT 8043 to 8141 which includes some duplicates, and a duplicate series are often referred to as the MPF series. This material was recorded in the early mid-1950s by the late Wiremu Tuakana Ngata, a son of the late Sir Apirana Ngata.
Funding was made available through the Māori Porposes Fund Board, prefic MPF.
For the purposes of this catalouge, the MPT prefix is the primary number, but because of the historical conotations and as the MPF prefix features in other catalouges, the MPF designation has been retained as a secondary claasification.
Tapes 8043 to 8095 are in a fragile condition, and dubbings should be made from the duplicate series. mpt 8096 to MPT 8141.
Additional reference to these tapes may also be found in the catalouge issued by the University of Auckland..
