s01. Phil Shone visits the 1ZB programming department and talks about programming over the holiday period with programme officer Ross McDonald and Murray Forgie. There are six employees working on holiday programming. Murray Forgie is in charge of transcriptions and is interviewed about recorded features programmes that have to be posted on to stations in Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Murray also is responsible for taped local programmes and getting wideband feeds of programmes from Wellington. He won't be getting a Christmas break.

Boys from all over New Zealand will be attending the annual YMCA summer camp at Hunua. Mr Adair from the YMCA says there are boys from Thailand, Australia and the Pacific Islands too at this year's camp. Boys are interviewed about the upcoming camp. 14 year old Robert Pitcaithly of Lower Hutt has been going to the camps since he was a baby as his father is secretary of the Hutt Valley YMCA. A boy named John from Sydney is interviewed. A Thai boy nicknamed Ricky is interviewed. He has come via the Sydney YMCA as he has been studying at university there. He makes some comments about the YMCA organisation in Thailand.
At the YWCA Miss Wright, director of physical education, is interviewed about their girls' camp this year. This year they will be at Mairangi Bay.

s02; The rare giant South American water lily flowers in the Domain Winter Gardens' tropical house. Mr T. Weston, gardener in charge of the tropical house talks about getting the seed for the water lily from Kew Gardens in 1950. They have to grow a new plant every year as it is not warm enough to survive the winter. He describes the water lily flower and the changes in colour it undergoes.

Medical officer of health Dr A.W.S. Thompson presents his monthly health report. He says the annual epidemics of German and ordinary measles are dying down. He talks about jaundice which is actually a form of hepatitis, a disease of the liver. It seems much more common over the past year and seems to be on the increase in Auckland. He urges that this can be avoided by washing hands before touching food.

George Macmillan of Christchurch has been sitting up a tree for three weeks, attempting to hatch some eggs. Christchurch broadcaster John Cummings interviews him. The idea was suggested to him by Mr Jones, the organiser of the gala for the Stewart Gully Sailing Club. He talks about his experience and the steps he took to try and get the eggs to hatch.
