of a new Soviet President, Gennady Yanayev. The report features
actuality of new Soviet President Gennady Yanayev and United States
President George Bush's reaction, stating that the coup may not succeed.
BBC correspondant Tim Whewell reports from the Russian Parliament
building, across the road from the Kremlin. He describes the political
situation, and local reaction to the overthrow of Mikhail Gorbachev and
