Broadcaster Ulric Williams comperes part of a series of talks about the station WLKW Yamaguchi, set up to serve New Zealanders in J Force.

David Steven [military service number 812771] talks about how he compiles news bulletins for broadcast on WLKW.

The chief news events of the day are assembled and edited by the Prime
Minister's department in Wellington. The script is sent by morse code to
Melbourne. Between Melbourne and Kure there is a teleprinter link. At Kure it is received and a copy sent to Headquarters and the forces newspaper and from Chofu it comes by courier to the radio station.

The station also cover Brigade news, including sporting results.

This recording is one of a series made by the New Zealand Broadcasting Service unit stationed with J Force troops in Japan, 1946-1948. The recordings were sent back for playing on radio in New Zealand as part of the series 'With the Kiwis in Japan.'
