The royal yacht Queen Mary at port. Queen Elizabeth II with PM Keith Holyoake. Powhiri at rugby ground. Sitting in the stands with Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Kapa Haka. EII delivers speech. Crowd scenes. Queen on walk about. The Queen Mary in dusky light.

Note: “Maori Reception at Rugby Park Gisborne on Sunday afternoon, 22 March, when 10,000 people saw 1,000 ceremonially dressed Māori from all parts of New Zealand welcome the Queen. Hosts were the Tairāwhiti group of the East Coast, and a performance of their classics Rūaumoko and Ka Panapana by their 300 members will long be remembered. Tairāwhiti also complemented the loyal address given by the Vice-President of the New Zealand Māori Council, Dr Pei Te Hurinui Jones, and Her Majesty's reply, which followed the presentation of gifts.” http://teaohou.natlib.govt.nz/journals/teaohou, 07/11/2008
