“RUNAWAY [1964, F39061] was picked up for distribution in the UK by Compton-Cameo, a small company specialising in exploitation and art house titles who renamed the film RUNAWAY KILLER .... The British Film Institute said, “The film had been misleadingly retitled to attract an audience unlikely to enjoy it.” - “Whatever It Takes: Pacific Film and John O’Shea: 1948-2000” by John Reid, (Victoria University Press, 2018), p.154.

“A nightmare chase across the scenic splendour of a wild continent.“David Manning, a young accountant, is unable to live within his income. He spends his spare time in Auckland with the young set - and his friends Sandra, Dorothy and Athol all like the outdoor life in the daytime and the bright lights at night. David finds himself in financial difficulties and leaves his job.” - New Zealand Film Commission; www.nzfilm.co.nz/film/runaway; retrieved 3/02/2014.
