Documentary following the fortunes the New Zealand jet boat entries in the 1975, 352 mile race on the Rio Balsas river in Mexico. Follows their troublesome preparations in Mexico City in their boats Aotearoa, Golden Key, PDL, Otago Lion, Etna, Miss Kiwi, Mr. Susuki, Lord Kitchener.

The race. Otago Lion has a spectacular accident. Several NZ boats are knocked out of the race. Aotearoa win followed by Etna.
