A documentary about the acclaimed New Zealand opera singer, Donald McIntyre, filmed by New Zeander Peter Coates while studying in Bavaria, with a production crew from Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Evening Post critic Dave Smith in 1975 wrote:
“I remember thinking that this was one of the BBC’s better documentaries and what a pity it was once again our own raw material had been exploited by the overseas people who are in the habit of selling us our own goods. I couldn’t have been more wrong ... for at a time I was beginning to despair of local coverage of the arts scene, up pops this very good feature from TV One, with much of the kudos at the business end going to producer Peter Coates ... this is the world where nobody is fab or fantastic. They are either good or they are out. Both Coates and McIntyre are very, very good.”
