WELLINGTON - ICEBREAKER IN FLOATING DOCK: Safe in dock after a 20 day hazardous voyage from the Ross Sea is the US Icebreaker, Eastwind. She lost her port propeller after carving a passage through McMurdoch Sound in ice up to 17 feet thick. After repairs are completed, harbour master Captain Todd guides her out from the wharf into the harbour, in preparation for the 6,000 mile journey ahead.

CHRISTCHURCH - MODEL YACHTS ON VICTORIA LAKE: The Christchurch Model Yacht Club enthusiasts sail their yachts in Victoria Lake, Hagley Park. Founded in 1898, the club’s racing yachts are built to specific detail, races occur regularly and there is an annual competition for prizes.
SOUTHLAND CELEBRATIONS - PARADE IN INVERCARGILL: Members of Cabinet arrive in Invercargill for a meeting of the Executive Council. They watch the Southland 100 year parade and celebrations.
