000:00 WESTPORT - CEMENT WORKS: A new cement works at Cape Foulwind in Westport is a busy place. High quality limestone, the base for cement, is found near here, as islarge deposits of sand and clay. Finding three important products within close proximity is a cement manufacturers dream! This plant, costing over £2 million, can produce over 30,000 tons per year. Westport is the administrative headquarters of the company and is geared to send out 1800 bags of cement an hour. The plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is among the most modern in the world.
