Documentary about the community of Wellington’s Holloway Road in a gully formerly known as Mitchelltown of the suburb Aro Valley.

The birthday party of Pop Swensson, who was born in 1885, has become a popular annual reunion of family, friends and former Holloway Road residents. At his 107th birthday celebration, family members Maureen, Joe and George Swensson along with visitors, reminisce and sing songs and welcome David Lange.
The residents discuss the old days and topics including former businesses, childhood, school, influenza epidemic, war time, post war, the great depression, midwives, food, medicinal concoctions, entertainment and the Cuba Street riot of 1932.
Interviewer Martyn Sanderson accompanies George Swensson on a walking tour up the road.
