Mixed film of 60th Division at Jerusalem and the ANZAC Mounted Division at Jericho, Palestine Front, late 1917.
A portrait shot of an unidentified junior officer of the Australian Light Horse. Next an inspection of 60th (London) Division by its commander, Major-General Sir John Shea, outside Jerusalem. Civilian labourers are shown "voluntarily assisting to repair" the Jerusalem-Jericho road (according to the shotsheet), with men of 60th Division repairing a bridge on the road and Major-General Shea's car driving past up an incline. A panorama of Jericho followed by "natives returning from the funeral of an Arab who was killed by the Turks for refusing to hand over his money", one of them carrying a spade. Men of the Australian Light Horse (or New Zealand Mounted Rifles ?) are seen mounting first guard over their headquarters at Jericho and saluting as a senior officer, possibly Major-General E C W Chaytor, leaves the building. The Auckland Regiment of the New Zealand Mounted Brigade, ANZAC Mounted Division, is seen galloping through the town. (Identification uncertain, the same scene is shown shortly afterwards as "Australian troops".) There are staged scenes of Australians in the Jericho market place, a brief scene of a Red Cross hospital, a panorama of Jericho, an Australian Light Horse patrol coming into Jericho and a final scene of civilians repairing roads in the area.
