News Reel coverage (with commentary) of the tangi of Māori leader Sir Apirana Ngata (1874-1950) at Tikitiki near Gisborne. In attendance are The Prime Minister, Mr Sid Holland, Minister of Māori Affairs, Mr Corbett, and Peter Fraser. Poi dance performed. School children lead the funeral party up a hill where Ngata is to be buried. Members of the Māori Battalion act as pall bearers. Guns fired in salute beside the family urupa overlooking tracts of farmland.
