“Douglas Wright is one of New Zealand’s leading choreographers and performers... his breathtaking and innovative works consistently setting new standards for the performing arts in this country and internationally. He initially trained a s a gymnast and began his dancing career in 1980 with Limbs Dance Company. In 1983 he joined the prestigious Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York. In 1989 he formed his own company and immediately achieved critical acclaim with its first New Zealand tour of “How on Earth”. Douglas Wright’s new full length work “Buried Venus” was commissioned by the 1996 New Zealand International Festival of the Arts.
ELEGY: was choreographed as a tribute to 3 special people who died recently. Douglas Wright devised and performed the solo piece for Artzaids in Wellington and the Aids Media Awards in Auckland.
