“A Glorious Death”

Francis Vernon Douglas was an outstanding young athlete and rugby player who spent several years as a popular parish priest in New Plymouth before following the call to become a missionary. Based in the Philippines in World War Two, Father Douglas was captured and tortured by the Japanese. There is a college named after him in his hometown, the Francis Douglas Memorial College, but mystery still surrounds his fate.

Features: Brother Bill (College Principal), Patty O’Donoghue (Francis Douglas Sister),
Patricia Brooks (Father Douglas’ Biographer).
