“An Unforgettable Signature”
Dennis Gunn was hanged for the murder of Ponsonby Postmaster, Augustus Braithwaite, in 1920. It was a landmark trial because Gunn was condemned on the strength of fingerprint evidence - the first time in NZ. The inscription on Dennis Gunn’s headstone is “Sadly Wronged.”
