In the north-east corner of the South Island is the province of Marlborough. Before the English settlers arrived wih their cattle and sheep, whalers and sealers frequented the waters.

Farming is the backbone of the province’s life, and sheltered water of the Marlborough Sounds, which have 600 miles of coastline, are the finest cruising grounds in New Zealand for small boats.
