1. KŌHANGA REO UNITS.
Newly appointed chairman of Te Kōhanga Reo Trust, Mr John Bennet called an urgent meeting to raise more funds and to consider certificates for supervisors. Selwyn Muru looks at Hoani Waititi Marae where plans are underway for a Māori language school.

There are over 300 Kōhanga Reo Units in NZ. Dr Pita Sharples, the overall supervisor at Hoani Waitītī Marae, explains the concept of their Kōhanga Reo. Mrs Aroha Sharples, Supervisor of Kōhanga Reo, Hoani Waitītī Marae speaks of the whānau atmosphere. Stills of Hoani Waitītī and a voice over explains his work writing the Rangatahi Māori language books once used for teaching.

2. PROFILE: SANDY ADSETT, ARTIST.
Sandy Adsett is an artist of Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Porou, known internationally for his UNICEF painting. His people, Ngāti Te Pāhauwera , pōwhiri manuhiri onto Te Raupunga Marae. There are a number of marae throughout the region which owe their artistic direction to him. Born at Te Raupunga near Wairoa to Queeny and Jim Adsett, he attended.

Te Raupunga Primary, Te Aute College, Ardmore Teachers College and Dunedin Teachers College where he studied arts and crafts. Te Kotahitanga Memorial Hall, was built by Jim Adsett and served as a marae for many years. The pride of Ngāti Te Pahauwera is the new meeting house Te Hauke.
