A look at the correspondence school system. Correspondence school is not only for those who are physically isolated but also for prisoners, hospital-bound patients and people living in New Zealand dependencies - Niue, Samoa and The Cook Islands. The film focuses on children in out-lying areas such as Te Karaka, Cape Brett lighthouse and high-country sheep stations in the Southern Alps. The children make an annual trip to residental school, in alternate years for girls and boys. This year is the girls turn at Massey college, Palmerston North.
