At Rātana Pā, just out of Whanganui, Māori from all over New Zealand gather to pay their respects at the tangi of T. W. Rātana. The Prime Minister, members of cabinet and many others pay their respects to Tokouru Rātana, leader of the Rātana movement since the death of his father Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana in 1939.
Eruera Tirikātene and other members of Parliament are seen carrying wreaths onto the marae during the pōwhiri. An elder delivers his whaikōrero.
Members of the Rātana church follow the funeral entourage to the grave side where finally he is laid to rest.
