Director: Len Lye
Music: Red Nichols

The protagonist of this film is a marionette monkey built by the film-maker himself. The two foot high monkey, sings and dances to 'Peanut Vendor', a 1931 jazz hit for Red Nichols. It had bolted, moveable joints and 50 interchangeable mouths to convey the singing. To get the movements right, Lye filmed his new wife, Jane, a prize-winning rumba dancer. Ellitt assisted in synchronising the animation with the music.

Lye presented this film as a prototype in the hope of finding partners for a series of puppet films, but without success.
